Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) is a modern, large-scale football stadium located in North Jakarta, Indonesia. It was inaugurated on April 19, 2022, and has a seating capacity of 82,000, making it one of the largest stadiums in Asia. The stadium is specially designed for football matches, allowing spectators to have a closer view of the action on the field.
One of the unique features of JIS is its retractable roof, which makes it the second stadium in Southeast Asia to have this technology. The roof uses a rack and pinion drive system and covers a total area of over 20,000 square meters. This allows the stadium to be open-air during good weather and closed during rain or extreme conditions.
JIS also incorporates a green building concept and has been certified with the Greenship Platinum rating by the Green Building Council Indonesia. It uses rooftop solar panels, water conservation systems, and a perforated facade that allows natural airflow, reducing the need for air conditioning.
The stadium includes facilities for people with disabilities, such as easy access ramps and 200 dedicated seats. Additionally, it features a jogging track on the rooftop sky deck, which offers a 360-degree view of Jakarta and is open to the public.
Located in an area with significant social challenges, JIS is expected to boost the local economy and serve as a landmark for North Jakarta. It is accessible via public transportation, including Transjakarta buses, and plans are underway to connect it with commuter rail and light rail transit systems.
